CUMULUS MEDIA Albuquerque is seeking a Morning News Anchor to help lead coverage on KKOB, New Mexico’s heritage news/talk station. On air since 1923, KKOB remains a trusted voice across the state, delivering breaking news, thoughtful analysis, and local insight every day.

This role isn’t about reading scripts—it’s about commanding a conversation. We’re looking for a broadcast journalist who’s comfortable in a live studio, sharp on the facts, and ready to help shape the day’s narrative with clarity, credibility, and presence.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do:

  • Anchor live newscasts during KKOB’s morning drive and support hosts with breaking news and updates
  • Help drive the editorial direction of morning coverage—pitch, write, and deliver relevant, impactful stories
  • Be a go-to voice during major local and national events, delivering coverage with poise and urgency
  • Engage with digital platforms (social, web) to amplify your work and connect with listeners
  • Collaborate with our News Director and newsroom staff to maintain a high standard of reporting
  • Represent the station at community events and in live remote settings

Requirements

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven on-air experience, preferably in a medium or major market
  • Strong editorial judgment and a deep understanding of what makes local news matter
  • Clear, confident delivery with the ability to pivot when news breaks
  • Comfort with early mornings, live interviews, and real-time reporting
  • Familiarity with newsroom software, social media platforms, and digital content production
  • A collaborative mindset and willingness to both lead and support
  • Valid driver’s license required
