LETTER TO PRESIDENT TRUMP ASKS FOR FEDERAL SPENDING ON LOCAL ADVERTISING
As our members watch their listeners and viewers climb to unprecedented numbers, many are also experiencing substantial income loss. The NMBA has maintained continuous communication with New Mexico’s congressional members regarding this pandemic’s impact on our industry.
Last week the NMBA reached out to Representatives Lujan, Haaland and Torres-Small regarding a letter addressed to the White House asking the administration to ensure that broadcasters continue to have access to the Paycheck Protection Program. The letter, lead by Reps. Dingell and Upton of Michigan and Flores and Veasey of Texas, also asks President Trump’s administration to fund federal advertising earmarked to be spent with broadcasters. Further, New Mexico’s Senator Tom Udall along with others have urged Senate leadership to ensure that broadcasters are included in any future stimulus packages, including additional funding of the PPP.
The NMBA and New Mexico’s broadcasters wish to express our deepest gratitude to Congressman Lujan, Congresswoman Haaland and Congresswoman Torres-Small for adding their names to the letter and supporting New Mexico’s radio and television community in this unprecedented time.
